Diesel Black Gold Men/Women’s Fall 2011 Collection

We're back kiddas! Picking up where we left off last Monday on V-day (Including our favorite pick, Agnes b; as our choice as the best menswear collection for Fall 2011). As we've stated previously, fashion week Fall 2011 is exploding everywhere left and right. So we have decided to cover and to inform all you dedicated and darling followers of ours with official coverage from the shows. Note: The picture selections you see are my picks exclusively. There is obviously much more in the collection itself. But as always, I only select the pieces that speak to me, the ones that make me feel something from an expressionist point of view.

Next up, Diesel Black Gold Men/Women’s Fall 2011. According to fashion writer Sarah Ferguson...
"Timeworn yet timeless best encompasses Sophia Kokosalaki‘s collection for Diesel Black Gold this season. Set inside of the massive Pier 94, a maze of folding chairs whose occupants included Chace Crawford, Vanessa Hudgens, and Wyclef Jean, filled only a small portion of the stark concrete space.

The pieces were meant to look as if they had come to life out of a sepia photograph, and indeed the maroons, olive greens, navys, and neutrals all had a tinge of rust coloring to them.

There were references to 18th and 19th century fashions, including Victorian style booties, silk blouses buttoned to the neck, corset bustiers, and brocade prints, but snakeskin and leather pants (both skinny and flaired) and dresses, and military inspired blazers for men, gave the collection a breath of fresh air. Nothing was overtly trendy, but nothing was passé either.

We were especially feeling the fur layered under a mens wool coat. This look proved that guys can wear fur and still keep their masculinity in tact. As for the girls, although we don’t know if we could pull it off, a black snakeskin halter top paired with leather flairs was in a word, fierce. The loose-fitting maroon sweater that topped off an oxford shirt and snakeskin skirt might be more our style."
