"Tinashe hit NPR‘s Tiny Desk to perform some of her hits and fan-favorite cuts.

On Friday (Feb. 9), the Kentucky native wore a white utility jacket with matching cargo pants as she graced the miniature stage. She ran through four songs from her catalog during the performance. Tinashe’s set list included 2023’s “Treason,” 2021’s “Unconditional,” “2019’s “Touch & Go,” and her hit 2014 single, “2 On.”

“At this point, I’ve really demonstrated that I don’t necessarily fit into one genre,” she told the Tiny Desk crowd, with all of her selected songs playing into this idea.

“Treason,” a cut from her recently released work, BB/Angel, was a vulnerable track, co-written by R&B artist Phabo. She performed it while playing the vibraphone live for the first time, NPR reported. The Kaytranada-produced “Unconditional” shifted the vibes into a more house-oriented direction. The track was released as part of her 2021 project, 333, and quickly became a fan-favorite amongst her audience on TikTok.

She then went into “Touch & Go,” a song she described as one of her favorite tracks in her whole discography. The song was originally released on November 2019 as the second single from her album, Songs For You. “Touch & Go” featured 6Lack, but the Tiny Desk version saw the songstress take full control of the composition.

Tinashe ended her set list with one of the biggest songs of her career thus far, “2 On.”

“Give me all that you got now/Make you want me cause I’m hot now/I’m gone, so faded I’m on one,” she sings, full of confidence, like its 2014. “Bang bang, pop off like a long gun/If you a lame ni**a you ain’t making no noise/Get faded, turn up with the big boys.”

Tinashe dropped off her latest album, BB/Angel, in 2023. The album was released on her independent label, Tinashe Music, and featured no guest appearances. Her project contained seven songs and was supported by two singles, including “Talk To Me Nice” and “Needs.”" - Vibe.com
