INYIM Media Corner Talk: It's Denver, The Bus Dog Hailing From Ecuador!
"The Dodo brings us the tale of the goodest good good boy who is also the smartest smart smart boy. Meet Denver, a dog who has become a local celebrity in his hometown of Guayaquil, Ecuador, for learning how to use the bus. And Denver takes the bus to visit his human, Gladys Shigla, at her pet store.
It’s a good thing I don’t live in Guayaquil because if I watched Denver leaping off the bus and happily frolicking into his human’s store, I’d actually grow a heart so big that it’d explode and leave me in a puddle of awwwwwws.
News site Expreso says that Gladys adopted Denver last year, and he slowly started exploring the world around him. At first, Denver just stuck around the neighborhood, but then one day, he followed a neighbor to the bus stop and waited with her. When the bus arrived, and the woman got on, Denver got on too.
As the bus made its way through town, the woman realized it stops in front of Gladys’ shop. So the woman got off to safely deliver Denver to his human. Now, I have the memory of a dead goldfish that got a brain transplant with a rock, so I would’ve forgotten that route right away, but not Denver! Denver embedded the route into his genius brain. And a few days after his first bus trip, he paid a surprise visit to Gladys’ shop, and he did it all on his own.
Denver’s sweet visits to his human have since become a semi-regular thing. Drivers know Denver now and stop in front of Gladys’ store when he gets on their bus. Here’s Denver The Bus Dog turning the world on with a happy tail wave while jumping off the bus to visit Gladys:
Denver is so adorable that the drivers don’t even care that he’s a fare dodger!!!!
Denver isn’t the first bus dog I’ve written about in this space. Eclipse, a dog from Seattle, WA who learned to ride the bus to the park, was an HSOTD back in 2015.
