Move Over Generic Brand Supreme. It May Be Filling & Transforming Tower Records’ Sunset Strip Spot, But The Iconic Brand Eyes A Comeback!

It was not only our hangout spot while coming of age in the 80s, 90s, and 00s. But it molded and shaped our character and personality traits in how we look at the music world. So what matters if uninspired clothing apparel Supreme is currently occupying space.

For 35 years, music legends including Elton John and Fiona Apple partied at 8801 Sunset Blvd, home to Tower Records’ historic flagship location. A definite backyard playground for those lucky enough native to the vicinity.  With jam-packed autograph sessions and live performances.

Now, the West Hollywood building is undergoing construction to make way for its new tenant, streetwear and skate brand. What currently remains of the iconic "single-level 8,700 square foot building," opened circa 1971.

Still painted yellow, reflecting Tower Records’ signature red branding italicized block letters. All good things must come to an end? Exactly not. Tower Records is planning to open new shop. Where? The rest is to be continued.

Funny local insider goss: "The currently beige building is expected to be painted white in accordance with Supreme’s branding, according to a rendering presented at a virtual town hall in January where residents expressed concerns about flash mobs and customers camping outside."
