Whoo Hoo! 90s Iconic Show “Legends of the Hidden Temple” Is Returning & Adults Will Compete In This Nickelodeon Series Picked Up By The CW!

"Children of the ’90s, rejoice! The classic Nickelodeon adventure-themed game show Legends of the Hidden Temple is coming back, and those millennial adults who grew up dreaming of one day competing for the Blue Barracudas, the Purple Parrots, the Orange Iguanas, the Red Jaguars, the Silver Snakes or the Green Monkeys will finally have another shot at glory.

The reboot of the popular show (which originally aired from 1993 to 1995) has been picked up by The CW, and the show is being scaled up for adult competitors. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will still feature many of the original’s iconic features, including Olmec the giant talking Mayan head, the moat, the Steps of Knowledge and the Temple Run, an obstacle course where the final remaining team had to avoid the Temple Guards and assemble the Shrine of the Silver Monkey in order to win.

But if you spent your childhood yelling at your TV about how the Shrine of the Silver Monkey was too easy (it was only three pieces!), don’t worry. The publication notes that the show will be moved out of a studio setting and onto a “jungle” set, where the mental and physical challenges will be made more difficult to suit the adult contestants.

There’s no word yet on who’s slated to host (if original host Kirk Fogg doesn’t get a phone call, we riot) or when the reboot is scheduled to premiere on The CW. In the meantime, the original series is currently streaming on Paramount+. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ve gotta go start training to live out our childhood fantasies; that Shrine of the Silver Monkey’s not gonna assemble itself." - insidehook.com/daily_brief/television/legends-hidden-temple-reboot
