INYIM Media Preffered TV Series: With A Heavy Heart, 'Kim's Convenience' Comedy Abruptly Ends During Fifth Season.

"The Netflix/CBC sitcom Kim's Convenience, which broke ground in Canada as the country's first comedy led by an Asian cast, is to end after its fifth season.

Launched on the CBC in fall 2016, Kim's Convenience, set around a Korean-Canadian family running a corner shop in Toronto, streams on Netflix and on cable and video-on-demand platforms internationally. The comedy's finale is set for April 13 on the CBC after the series' co-creators Ins Choi and Kevin White confirmed at the end of production for the fifth season that they wanted to move onto other projects.

"Given their departure from the series, we have come to the difficult conclusion that we cannot deliver another season of the same heart and quality that has made the show so special... Thank you to our fans for the love and support you’ve given this show," the producers of Kim's Convenience said in a statement on Monday.

The comedy is based on an award-winning play by Ins Choi. The ensemble cast includes Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Jean Yoon, Andrea Bang and Simu Liu, star of Marvel's upcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as he plays the titular character.

The series is produced by Ivan Fecan and executive produced by Fecan, Alexandra Raffé, Choi and White." - Hollywoodreporter.com
