ItsNotYouItsMe "Back To The Future" Edition salutes Freddie Mercury's 1984 'Love Kills' getting a Studio 54-influenced re-master along with a new lyric musique video!

"Upon its release 35 years ago, Freddie Mercury's debut solo single "Love Kills" received some very mixed responses. But today, the singer's legacy is being honored as the song earns its very own enhanced version, and a brand new lyric video.

Just days after the release of a comprehensive collection of Mercury's solo career songs titled Never Boring, the new video for "Love Kills" aims to restore the fan-favorite single with an enhanced audio mix and a distinct disco flavor. As the track plays, the lyrics come across the screen in an iconic 80's font, reminiscient of Studio 54, a favorite spot of Mercury's at the time of the song's release.

"Love Kills", first released before Mercury's first solo album Mr. Bad Guy, has a complex history -- while it earned the singer his first solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100, it also received a nomination for one of Hollywood's least presitigious honors: a Golden Raspberry Award. The song was initially released on the soundtrack of Giorgio Moroder’s restored version of the classic 1927 silent film Metropolis, and nabbed the Razzie nomination for "Worst Original Song" (though it lost to Dolly Parton and Sylvester Stallone's "Drinkenstein" from the film Rhinestone).

The newly-restored version of the song is a part of the new Never Boring release, a CD//DVD/Blu-ray combo that features the best of the star's refurbished solo singles, along with new video and spoken word from the singer. You can listen to the new collection here.
