Film: "Great Gatsby"

Lights! Camera! Action! Is thee first Old Hollywood expression that comes to mind after watching Leonardo DiCaprio's upcoming film remake of "The Great Gatsby." Set for a Christmas Day release, this dazzling trailer also features co-stars Carey Mulligan, Isla Fisher, Joel Edgerton, and Callan McAuliffe.

The following is thee film synopsis for the Baz Luhrmann-directed project...
"Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire), a Midwesterner now living on Long Island, finds himself fascinated by the mysterious past and lavish lifestyle of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby (DiCaprio). He is drawn into Gatsby’s circle, becoming a witness to obsession and tragedy."

I'll be keeping a corner eye-out on everything Gatsby until Christmas on this one kiddas but let me say this...for a Baz Luhrmann directed film, comes to no surprise the over the top period costumes this one specifically revolved around the roaring twenties decadence with a modern twist (I mean just listen to that score and not to mention both Gucci and Ralph Lauren provided a few pieces from there spring 2012 collections that were Gatsby-influenced.)

Following the heels of such critically acclaimed and some of my favorite films including Moulin Rouge and Romeo + Juliet, I am more than ready for a full serving of sequins, sparkle and pizzazz this film will undoubtedly deliver. Catherine Martin, who's the wardrobe stylist, is also married to Mr.Luhrmann himself which reinforces the notion that collaborative efforts between cupids arrows can make for a historic project. Just ask Valentino and Giancarlo Giammetti or Oprah and Gal! ;P
