If the new video from Oh Land are what dreams are made of in Copenhagen, Denmark then we want in!
'White Nights' is the latest single and video from 26 year old friend of ItsNotYouItsMe, Nanna Øland Fabricius known by her pop star moniker Oh Land. The video directed by creative team 'Canada' is derived from Oh Land's dreams in which she says she is inspired by the natural world and our civilization. In a interview taken from eburban.com Oh Land discusses the filming and the concept -
“When the time came for making the video a year later I went to Barcelona, Spain to film for a whole week. We had so much to do because we had so many ideas we wanted to film. The whole video is based on my dreams and inspiration and what keeps me up all night when the whole city is asleep.”
So why is the song called “White Nights”?
“In Scandinavia we call it “White nights” at summer when it never really gets dark at night and you just never wanna fall asleep. In my music I often get inspiration from both the nature world and civilization. Two contradicting elements that pull equally in me. The way I write melodies and lyrics are very organic and inspired from something very original that I find in tribal music and native music,” explains the singer. “My approach for production an recording is on the other hand very modern and always searching for the new way to do things. I’m fascinated with electroniques and machines.”
“In this video I explore these two opposite worlds in my dream and my imagination and I start mixing them together so they in the end become my world of oh land. For the first time in 7 years I did choreography again an had to learn steps and routines for nearly 6 hours a day. It was very intense and fun to use dance in a whole other way. One of the things about this video that I’m proud of is how everything you see is actually happening. No post effect butterfly or house splitting in two. Everything you see is built and created for this video which is why I spent 10 magic days in Spain. This is the product of it and I hope people will feel invited in to my crazy world .”
