Martyr by Davood Salek

Davood Salek, a 22 year old American photographer, shares with Homotography his portrait Martyr, featuring model Warren Yoo. Taken this past summer, the portrait is a revision of the martyrdom of Saint Sebastian.

“I made it to convey the burden of the modern gay persona,” Davood explained to us. “We are forced to represent a wide span of issues that we may feel wholly indifferent to. Its about rejecting your own face value and being true to oneself.”

'The martyrdom of Saint Sebastian is a big inspiration in the art world. Here are some of the iconic paintings depicting this subject. The artists are Andrea Mantegna, Il Sodoma, El Greco, and Carlo Saraceni.'
