Leighton Meester Covers 'British Cosmopolitan'

Leighton Meester is British Cosmopolitan's Ocotber cover girl looking perfectly styled and expressing her love for British fashion. “I love British fashion. In New York, everyone wears black but they’re more dressed down. In London, people wear spiked heels or leather jackets or denim in a cool way. It’s different. There’s an edgy, sexy vibe going on.”

On not wearing makeup: “I don’t care if there are a million pictures of me with no makeup. I love being able to walk down the street without it. We should promote women not having to wear makeup, or at least feel we can go out without it.”

On comparing her style to Blair Waldorf’s: “I’ve never seen Blair with the same bag, coat or shoes twice. I don’t know anyone who had that. I had two pairs of jeans [when I was a teenager] that I rotated. I wouldn’t trust myself with a Prada brag! I didn’t even want to change for gym so I’d wear sweatpants over my jeans, then sweat around the track for an hour.”

On being awkward around people: “If I’m not around close friends or family, I can get quiet and awkward, and it probably comes off as not very nice or just plain weird! It’s not meant to. I try to pull myself out of it but sometimes it’s hard for me to open up. In the past it was easier for me to trust people. Nowadays I judge pretty quickly: ‘You just want to be my friend because I’m on a TV show.’”

Nicki Minaj Is Prepping Re-release With Singer Cassie's Tracks

Nicki Minaj's is already prepping the re-release of her second record  Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded now titled, "The Re-Up." The sizzling new tune provides vocals from r&b/pop recording artist Cassie which coincidentally was a featured song on her long awaited sophomore album "The Prelude" which has yet to see the light of day. We realized this little known musical fact when first listening to Minaj's first single "The Boys" because it happened to be one of our favorite -pre-existing tunes originally entitled "Don't lose it!"

This means kiddas, Nicki heard the song, loved it so much and most likely proclaimed, this will be my first single off The Re-Up and I wanna keep Cassie as a feature because after all it is her track...aaannndd how much will it cost!?

Nicki tweeted the following about how many tracks would be on the upcoming album answering, "No less than 5, no more than 8."

China's Most Striking Men

The fashion scene is worldwide and takes us on a behind the scenes look at China's flourishing male model world.

Thomas Giddings Gets An Intimate Look at the Far East's Top Male Models

Emerging faces Rui Wang, Liu Chang, Hao Yun Xiang and the firmly established Zhao Lei are profiled in Thomas Giddings’ elegant short filmed during the spring/summer 2013 menswear shows in Paris. Inspired by an enigmatic scene in Paul Schrader’s 1980 film American Gigolo, Giddings filmed discreetly in order to capture both the models’ true personalities and the minutiae of the everyday. “I wanted to capture the downtime and follow each of the boys in a subtle way,” says the photographer, “telling the story through their characters, rather than through the clothes.” Giddings began his career shooting behind the scenes at fashion shows for POP and i-D, and has since gone on to photograph for British Vogue, Twin and Russian Interview, as well as hold numerous exhibitions of his work. Demonstrating the growing influence of China on the fashion industry, the four boys have risen over the past few seasons to work with some of today's most influential designers, including Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, Kris Van Assche for Dior and Dolce & Gabbana. Giddings' Paris short features intimate access at high profile runway shows for Louis Vuitton, Dior, Dries Van Noten and Mugler, offering unique insight into the usual high-octane sheen. “I work differently to a lot of other photographers backstage,” explains Giddings. “It's about communicating existing moments rather than stepping in to direct.”

Karl Lagerfeld on Japanese Schoolgirls: ‘They Dress a Little Like Me’

Karl Lagerfeld and Japanese School girls who knew there was a correlation.

Lagerfeld appeared at the Paris press launch of his new makeup line for Shu Uemura last night. And like all things involving Karl Lagerfeld, the event was a total spectacle with the face of Mon Shu, the brand’s cartoon spokesmodel, plastered everywhere from pastries to balloons to stuffed animals to short films, according to WWD.

When we first saw Mon Shu, we thought she was dressed like a female version of Karl Lagerfeld, but her look is also Japanese schoolgirl-esque. Though, apparently that’s the same thing. When the topic of Japanese school girls came up (Lagerfeld must be tired of talking about Choupette), he told the trade that he was a fan of their uniforms and that, “They dress a little like me, even if this is more exaggerated.”

It’s true, but wait–do they dress like him or does he dress like them? Which came first, the Karl Lagerfeld or the Japanese schoolgirl? Has he just been copying their fitted collared shirts with ties look all along? Hmmm… Via
