Exclusive: Y-3 Plans A Crazy Laser Show For Sunday

'Y-3 is already known for its attention-grabbing runway shows. Last season, there was a footie game with designer Yohji Yamamoto and French soccer icon Zinedine Zidane. For Fall/Winter 2009, there were ice walls inside Pier 40, and before that, a backdrop of waterfalls cascading from the High Line.

But this year promises to be even more thrilling. Fasionista's tipster, who is working on the show, told them this: “I literally walked into [the Park Avenue Armory] and stood there with my mouth open.”

What could be so heart-stopping? Well, fashionista's source says that Y-3 is working with London-based firm United Visual Artists, which has produced installations and shows for everyone from U2 to Prada to T magazine. While they don’t have too many details, they do know this:

–The show will incorporate futuristic laser technology.
–There is some sort of smoke/dry ice/something like that involved, so expect a hazy runway.

They’ve been working on the concept for several months, which suggests that it should be good stuff. I’ll keep you kiddas updated!!!

'The Last Airbender' Trailer

Although I posted the sneek trailer a few months back, here is thee entire trailer for 'The Last Airbender'.

'The film, based on the show Avatar: The Last Airbender, tells the story of Aang, a young man who has to bring peace and balance back to the four nations of the world after a war breaks out and wreaks havoc on the world.'

Anne Hathaway Covers ‘InStyle’ March 2010

Anne Hathaway looks candy sweet on the cover of InStyle magazine’s March 2010 issue.

Here’s what the Alice in Wonderland actress had to share:

On her appearance: “I think I’ve got really weird features. I have very large features on a very small head. But, you know, I’m not going to beat myself up… I look like myself, and I think at the end of the day, as nice as pretty is, authenticity is more important.”

On playing the White Queen: “When I found out Tim Burton was on, I basically went into the studio and said, ‘I’m here, I want to play the White Queen. I’m just letting you know I will do anything to be in this movie.’”

On planning: “I don’t time anything. I never plan an image I want to project. It’s always very much where I am right now.”

Oh Anne Hathaway, how I adore thee!

Rag & Bone’s AW10 Collection

"There were plaids and tweeds and military style fanny packs and killer booties topped with chunky scarves, layered over thin turtlnecks with bits of shearling and loads of buckles. There were navys and forest greens and deep reds, with plenty of black and even some brown. There were loose sweater dresses and tight mini skirts, brilliant capes and perfectly tailored jackets."

"But what made the collection perfect, was the impeccable styling from Vanessa Reid. Stylist Keegan Singh said he was so impressed that he spent the rest of the day researching her, “She was Marie-Amelie’s assistant. I know everything about her now, ask me anything!”

He’s talking about Marie-Amelie Sauve, the French Vogue contributor who styles Balenciaga and everything else cool and perfect, a trait Reid obviously absorbed." Fashionista

Karl Lagerfeld Speaks

Shortly after the news of Alexander McQueen's death broke, every celebrity with computer access or publicist had something to say. The BBC compiled them all on one page, but let me shine a spotlight on Karl Lagerfeld's statement:

"I found his work very interesting and never banal. There was always some attraction to death, his designs were sometimes dehumanized. Who knows, perhaps after flirting with death too often, death attracts you."

The Old Curiosity Shop vs. Margo Selby vs. Oki-ni

'With its shop having roots back to 1567 and a Charles Dickens book title, The Old Curiosity Shop collaborated with award winning British textile designer Margo Selby on these exclusive Oki-ni jackets.'Homotography

Creative Director John Skelton explains, 'The jacket shape had been created by the Old Curiosity Shop's designers in a jersey fabrication which looked and felt fantastic so we bought some. Then they showed us some scarfs which were in such strong and interesting fabrics which we also bought. Then we thought, these jackets would be amazing in these fabrics, so, we decided to try producing one. When the sample came back it was obvious that we should produce these in a few different fabric options and we decided to give it a bit more of a summer feel by creating some oversized shorts to go with them. oki-ni is the only place in the world selling this product and there isn’t a lot of it.'

I Dig the cropped jackets but not so much the scarves.

Talk Of The Day: From One Brilliant Actor To Another

Leonardo DiCaprio On Meryl Streep being the greatest actor in the world to "The Essentials" edition of Esquire’s March 2010 issue.

“When I sat in the theater, it was, Oh, my God, she’s the only person who looks completely natural. She’s the only person who has actually made her character into a real human being who would have an erratic moment because those erratic moments are what make you more human. That was a huge moment of discovery. Meryl may be the greatest actor in the world.”

For the Love of God by Lorenzo Busato

'Lorenzo Busato, a Fashion Design student who is passionately fond of Fashion, Photography, Design, Art, Cinema and to realize all of his ideas with his hands' shares with us a look at ‘For the love of God,’ a S/S 2010 collection of men's clothing based on Damien Hirst that he created for his last design course at IUAV in Treviso, Italy, where he’s about to graduate soon.'Homotography

Lorenzo explains, “’For the love of God’ is the collection born inside of a school project based on the study of an ethnicity as opposed to a theme of breaking. The research began as the analysis of an ancient population, the Ainù, settled in the Japanese archipelago between the XII e the XI millenium BC. Clothes of sculptures & geometrical volumes made by important tissues, highly decorated, regular & symmetrical patterned, which led to a search along the works of the artist Damien Hirst.”

“The essential & symbolical graphics, the concept of death estranged from it's meaning of pain, the dissection of the elements, the obsessive secularity, frequently used themes by Hirst, personally revisited for the project, become modular patterns to be applied on the fabrics, become a mask that lifts off the identity before the fear of death, become monumental shapes for clothes, alike architectural works, strong, impressive, which do not seem to bow to the passing of time,” Lorenzo continues.

Oh these pieces would look stellar in a fashion editorial alone.
