When Two INYIM Media Inspirations Collide: ‘And Just Like That… She’s Going To Be Just Fine.’ Kim Cattrall Joins The Cast Of Groundbreaking 'Queer as Folk' Reboot!

"For those who are rightfully mourning the loss of Samantha Jones in the upcoming Sex and the City resurrection: good news! Yesterday (November 10), the actor revealed that she is joining the cast of Peacock’s Queer As Folk revival in a recurring guest star role.

Veering from her legendary straight shooting, sexaholic PR maven SATC character, in Queer As Folk, the Golden Globe winner will portray a “martini-soaked, high-society Southern debutante with trailer park roots”. While we’re yet to hear more about the role, we’re feeling the potential for some Samantha-style one-liners and iconic looks.

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that the 1999 British series Queer As Folk is getting a remake – this time, based in the United States. The original show, which ran for five seasons until 2000, follows the story of three gay men in Manchester’s gay village as they navigate complicated relationships, tear up the gay clubs, and sport early noughties lewks.

Now, the revival – made by writer and director Stephen Dunn – will follow the lives of a diverse friend group in New Orleans as their lives transform after a tragedy. Alongside Cattrall, Ryan O’Connell, Jesse James Keitel, Candace Grace, Johnny Sibilly, Devin Way, and Fin Argus have been announced as cast members.

On social media, fans seem to be celebrating Cattrall’s new role. “And just like that… she’s gonna be just fine,” wrote one fan on Twitter. “Kim Cattrall telling Sarah Jessica Parker she’s getting the gays in the divorce,” said another, alluding to the long-standing feud between the actors.

As for the SATC remake, it has been reported that Empire's Nicole Ari Parker will join the cast as the fourth member of the iconic New York friendship group – playing documentary filmmaker Lisa Todd Wexley, Carrie Bradshaw’s new BFF. TBH, we’re just glad that Cattrall doesn’t have to be in a situation where she’s not enjoying herself, for even an hour." - dazeddigital.com/film-tv/article/54761/1/kim-cattrall-joins-the-queer-as-folk-reboot-as-a-martini-soaked-socialite
