ItsNotYouItsMe "Come Thru Thursday Vocals" Features Saucy Hypnotic Comeback Tune By M.I.A.! Plus, Stellar-Supa Sonics From Marie Davidson & L’Œil Nu!

M.I.A. has shared a new track called ‘CTRL’ – you can listen to it below. The English-Sri Lankan artist posted the song to her OHMNI.com website today (September 9), and has confirmed it is a standalone release. “CTRL! A SONG FOR 2020…

This is not a song from M.I.A’s upcoming highly anticipated IIIIIIth LP. It was made for the HERE + NOW, TODAY,” she wrote on social media. At the start of the song, which arrives with an animated lyric video, M.I.A. delivers the lines: “Hands up!/ Hand down!/ Wake Up!/ Snap Out!/ We gon stand up/ When they try to/ Control“.

She goes on to reference “freedom of speech”, “war and peace” and Gucci Gang. Elsewhere in the announcement post, M.I.A. voiced her support for Julian Assange. She’s defended and spoken with the WikiLeaks founder on a number of occasions in the past, and last year performed at the ‘Don’t Extradite Assange’ event outside the Home Office in London.

You can read the full message in the above post. Back in March, M.I.A. offered up her first new music in three years with ‘OHMNI 202091’. It arrived on the 15th anniversary of her debut record ‘Arular’. The musician’s last full-length album, ‘AIM’, was released in 2016. Ahead of its release, she said that it would be her final solo project. “I wanna go and do some other stuff and take some time out,” she reasoned." - NME.COM

"Who’d have ever thought Marie Davidson would need a band: this isn’t to discredit the spirit (or contributions) of her newfound compatriots but, rather, to celebrate the unexpectedness that is Renegade Breakdown.

Considering the forceful, often satirical brilliance of her own music, and the lead single of the forthcoming album, the thought of a new, equally intriguing mix boggled the mind before the realization before this new trio’s new mixture.

Delving into a more overly anthemic territory, Marie Davidson & L’Œil Nu take expectations in a new direction without muting their desires with new single “Worst Comes To Worst”. A four-on-the-floor dance number, it’s just one new shade that Marie promises to deliver on the forthcoming album." - beatsperminute.com/marie-davidson-loeil-nu-release-emphatic-new-single-worst-comes-to-worst/
