ItsNotYouItsMe "Back To The Future" Edition Salutes Christina Aguilera's 21st Anniversary Celebration Of Self-Titled Debut Record!

"Christina Aguilera recalls the crazy week that turned her into a superstar with the release of her self-titled debut album Christina Aguilera on Aug. 24, 1999.

"So crazy -- 21 years ago, I scored Reflection and my record deal in the same week. Fast forward to today, the 21st anniversary is falling on the same week my new rendition of Reflection is dropping. The stars are aligning," she wrote on social media Monday (Aug. 24) alongside a highlight reel of her oldest hits.

The video compilation looked like it was recorded on a VHS tape, rewinding through some of Xtina's earliest No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including "Genie in a Bottle," "What a Girl Wants," and "Come On Over Baby (All I Want is You)." She ended the 48-second tribute clip with her original rendition of "Reflection," which she recorded as the theme song for the 1998 Disney animated classic Mulan and re-recorded for the 2020 live-action remake, which she has yet to officially release.

Earlier this year, Aguilera dusted off her undeniable warrior spirit to record the new "Loyal Brave True" anthem for the 2020 version of Mulan, which will premiere on Disney+ next Friday, Sept. 4. After Disney eventually canceled the film's postponed theatrical release for the summer, Mulan will become the first major tentpole studio picture to make the move to a streaming release in the wake of the post-coronavirus media landscape.

Christina Aguilera debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It earned the then-17-year-old singer her first Grammy award for best new artist, is certified eight-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and remains her best-selling album after selling more than 14 million copies worldwide.

The now-39-year-old artist celebrated the album's 20th-anniversary last August by releasing the deluxe version with "xxtra special versions" of the original tracks." - Billboard.com
