Mandy Moore's Forevermore Golden Classic Pop Anthem "Candy" Turns 20!

After zephyring in the sky since the 90s, Mandy Moore's forevermore golden classic pop anthem "Candy" turns 20!

"Mandy Moore is missing her first song like candy. The 35-year-old pop star-turned actress got nostalgic Wednesday as she celebrated the 20-year anniversary of the song that launched her career, “Candy.”

“Woah baby is right!!” Moore wrote on Instagram along with a clip of the hit’s music video that dropped in 1999. “Can’t believe it’s been 20 years of Candy!🍬💕”. The ’90s hit — in which she sang “I’m missing you like candy” — helped launched Moore’s music career when she was just 15 years old after it peaked at number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 at the time.

The music video, filled with iconic ’90’s flare like stick-straight hair, belly shirts, low-rise jeans, thin eyebrows, globs of lip gloss, portable CD players and Sony headphones, brought back all the feels for her fans. “Classic. Wish I could turn back time to the good old days…when our pop princesses sang us to sleep but now we’re stressed out..” wrote one fan.

“Whaaa?! I caNOT believe it’s been that long! CHEERS to all that you were then, and all that you are NOW!” exclaimed another. One more added, “I was obsessed with this video! All the VW Beetles❤️”. While the song helped Moore rise to fame, the “This Is Us” star recently spoke candidly about the start of her music career, saying at the PopSugar Play/Ground event in June of the song’s lyrics, “‘I’m missing you like candy.’ What does that even mean? It’s nonsensical.”

She has also said that she despised her performance in the iconic vid, saying on the “Late Late Show” in 2016, “My very first music video, I had to dance in it and it is abysmal.”" - PageSix.com
