Dublin post-punk/garage rockateers Fontaines D.C. have unleashed a magnetic rock n roll punk pulsating number with their brand new spankin' single, the raw energy tune “Big”. The boys signed to indie American record label Partisan, and now their soon to be released debut album is set for an April arrival. Fontaines D.C. upcoming album is being called Dogrel.
The meaning behind the title Dogrel according to reports and press release, is "taken from a form of poetry once popular in Ireland — a form that was rough around the edges, working class, and often met with derision by establishment critics — “Dogrel” alludes to the particular mixture Fontaines are chasing in their music: the high-minded literary influences mixed with the colloquialisms of pub talk in Dublin, or the cerebral nature of their writing mixed with furious, drunken, immediate instrumentals."
“Big,” will be Dogrel’s official album opener. The musique video is directed by Molly Keane, which depicts a kid en route going down Dublin’s Moore Street lip-synching to the lyrics quite confidently and impeccably.
The band said about the clip: “We felt that great ambition was a sickness. And we got Grian’s 11-year-old next-door neighbor to say it to you all because he’s got the presence of a hundred frontmen.”
