ItsNotYouItsMe Album Spin - Shawn Mendes' Self-Titled Third LP "Shawn Mendes"

We hold a very special treasure trove of what we like to call, "favorite-favorite all-time favorites." It's basically a holy trinity list of pioneering-incomparable artists that are innately born with that extra pizzaz, that unique it-factor. One of those diety names is Shawn Mendes, an all around sex on talented legs. Swoon...

So this edition of our prestigious list of "Album Spin" is an extra prestigious one. Shawn Mendes  + just dropped his brilliant pop-funk-alternative mid-uptempo self-titled record. Shawn set a high bar for himself for his third LP, pushing himself to be more daring on his self-titled effort. The tunes showcase a more mature growth including a one-night stand in (“Where Were You in the Morning?”), a battle with anxiety (“In My Blood”), the joyful ditty's "Mutual" "Particular Taste" "Lost in Japan", and our favorite thee sassy gaytastic "QUEEN". A solid bolder, funkier sound that gives quivers down our backbone. Captivating and catchy.

Less is more? Or is Less is a bore? Whatever thee intention behind this record is, one thing for damn sure is, it's ethereal, like a breezy daydream. At times it ventures into moody lyrical content but maintains a fun upbeat bouncy feel. Attached with pulsating guitar sonics both live and digital you'll find Shawn singing at his most happy-go-lucky self on this album.

There are pop-soul dance offerings like the ones perfect for your far-out fun friend who shows up to a hang out engaging in some yummy cocktails or perhaps after exhaling some green flowery caterpillar substance leading the night into an inevitable transcendent party.

Shawn's innately gifted lyrical rhymes and authentic sexy presence is ready to take center stage and dominance once again. Today our favorite tracks are featured. Hailing from Canada, thee following is a plethora of pulsating beats that enchant and thrill like goosebumps all over your body.

Take an earful right below!

"Nervous" live performance.

Lost in Japan.

Like To Be You.

Channel Tres Is Back With Jet Black!

Get into the funky groove with us and Compton producer/rapper Channel Tres as he's back with his new brilliant single entitled "Jet Black"! Back in April, we introduced Channel Tres and his electrifying first single “Controller.” A dance house track opened with a traditional deep-voiced cry that smoothly melded over a rap beat.

The tune, co-written and also produced by Nick Sylvester, found us comparing Channel to another favorite similar artists of ours, Vince Staples’ and his "Big Fish Theory" album. Call it hip-house that you may find randomly on Soundcloud or a bite out of a refreshing strawberries field, “Controller,” was the bee's knees in all its bouncing synths and hypnotic sway. We couldn't wait what was in store next!

Well, wait no further as his follow-up track doesn't disappoint. “Jet Black”,  is thee official second single off his upcoming self-titled EP. Channel Tres dares potential suitors and challengers alike to keep up with him in his song. The song also once again co-produced by Nick Sylvester, combines a far-out bass line and a heavy synthesized chorus.

Once again carebears, get your nearest strobe-lit dance floor ready (even though they're a needle in a haystack nowadays), and request, request, stream and download "Jet Black"...

UPDATED: Watch The Trailer For The New M.I.A. Documentary

Update From: July 14th 2018

According to one of our preferred musical sources:

"The trailer for MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A., the new documentary about activist, mother, and prolific rapper Maya Arulpragasam, is finally here. M.I.A. has been a pivotal artistic, cultural, and human rights figure since the early aughts. The long-awaited and highly anticipated film tracks the controversial British musician’s explosive rise to fame, providing insight into her tumultuous transient upbringing all the way to her ascent to global pop figure. The film is set to hit theaters in the UK on 9/21 and the US on 9/28.

Growing up in Sri Lanka in the midst of a civil war, M.I.A. has always explored ideas of cultural displacement, rootlessness, and political strife in her songs and her visuals — perhaps never better than on the revolutionary Kala, which turned 10 last year. Her sound — infamously marked by a rich, eclectic sonic palette — has had the nebulous genre of “world music” slapped onto it. But that’s never seemed like the right word for the prodigious art that M.I.A creates. It’s almost like the media has never been able to pigeonhole her into one particular box. For this exact reason, a documentary that explores her life, identity, and music is so eagerly anticipated.

The Steve Loveridge-directed doc draws from archival footage over the last 22 years, ranging from everything from personal videos to never-before-heard recordings. Since premiering at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and winning the World Cinema Documentar" -y Special Jury Award, MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. has swiftly garnered momentum and hype.
