Go Home with Kelis!

Birds of a feather flock together as does Kelis, the singer, cook, and all around artiste who gives us a very easy, breezy look into her Los Angeles.

"My Apartamento: Kelis
The chart-topping singer and trained chef invites us into her maximalist Los Angeles pad

There are few people who can get by with only a first name—Elvis, Madonna and Cher—but Milkshake singer Kelis has pulled it off with sass and style since bursting onto the global music scene in the late 1990s. Born Kelis Rogers in Harlem, New York, the star won the world over with her Neptunes-produced debut album Kaleidoscope, which featured the anthemic track Caught Out There, popular for its generation-defining chorus “I hate you so much right now.”

These days, though, she can mainly be found in the kitchen. Beginning in 2006, Kelis trained as a chef at Le Cordon Bleu culinary school and launched a pop-up restaurant in London, a cookbook and numerous other gastronomic endeavours, experiences that undoubtedly inspired her most recent album, 2014’s Food.

Here, the star invites director Barbara Anastacio into her Los Angeles home, which features a psychedelic closet brimming with past costumes, a homemade brass band chandelier, and a whole lot of dramatic creatures (and creature comforts)."
