NICK JONAS COSMOPOLITAN NOVEMBER 2014 PHOTO SHOOT

Via @ Cosmopolitan.com, an exclusive and somewhat rather personal look in the life of  Nick Jonas

..."Nick Jonas Poses for Cosmopolitan-Following his racy Flaunt cover story, singer Nick Jonas connects with fashion photographer Matt Jones for a photo shoot featured in the November 2014 issue of Cosmopolitan.

What are the best lessons you’ve learned so far, since you started your career and up to your solo career now? “I think the biggest lesson is to just chill out. Calm down. I think at the peak of my previous success, I probably stressed about more things than I should have, about things that really weren’t that important. And now, I take the good with the bad and … roll with it all. And I think it’s always important to just stay hungry and to work harder than anybody else.”

What have been your brothers’ reactions to your single “Chains”? “Really positive. They both really love the song and were supportive on Twitter and stuff, which felt great. I played them some more of the record now and they really love it. It feels good. I think we were a band for a long time, so there always is going to be a sensitivity there that I feel, but I’m thrilled to have brothers that support me and I support them in their solo ventures.”

Do you have a style icon? “James Dean; he’s the best.”

One-word description of your personal style? “Understated.”

All-time favorite movie? “Dead Poet’s Society.”

What about a comedy? “Something’s Gotta Give.”

Dream collaboration. “Prince. For the stories and music.”

Dinner with anyone famous — dead or alive. And why? “Derek Jeter. I’m a big Yankees fan. Actually, I’ve sat with him at a dinner and we hung for a little bit and it was great — but [I want] a full-on, like, dinner to sit and chat about his career.”

Yeah.
I would say you really gotta check yourself, if you feel like it's worth fighting for or not. And if it doesn't feel like it is and if your friends — friends know who you are. If they say it's not worth it, follow their lead and do your best to get through it.

What would you ask for if you were granted one wish?
I would ask for another couple days with my grandfather in good health. He and I were very close. He passed in February and I miss him very much.

I'm sorry.
No, it's all right. But, yeah, the last couple days he was in [bad] health, so it would have been nice to have some solid laughing days.

On a happier note: Favorite cartoon character as a child?
Rocket Power. It was a Nickelodeon show.

Go-to karaoke song?
"I Believe I Can Fly" — R. Kelly. Obviously.

OK, so for this last part, these are question from OkCupid. I don't know if you've ever created a profile —
I have not, but I'm really curious to see.

They're pretty funny. So, I secretly want to be _________.
James Bond.

One thing my mother would want you to know about me.
This is, like, OkCupid so the person who would be interested in dating me would see this?

Yeah. When you fill out your profile on OkCupid, they match you by answers to what someone else is writing.
That I love to eat.

First thing people usually notice about me is ___________.
My surprising sense of humor. It's under the radar.

Six things I could never do without.
Insulin [laughs] — it's kind of a necessity. A guitar. I think a good shower — I really like to be clean, it's a priority for me. Golf — I love golf. How many things is that? Three?

Four.
Steak and my family.

You spend a lot of time thinking about _______.
Music.

What I'm looking for in a partner.
Honesty, sense of humor, and good times.

On a typical Friday night I am _________.
Having a cigar with a friend. Maybe a drink.

Most private thing I'm willing to admit.
I hate flying. People are shocked by that because I fly all the time, but I think defying gravity is just frightening.

Perfect Sunday?
Perfect Sunday involves golfing. Barbecue, maybe? Some friends and then a great movie.

Movie I watched the most times is __________.
There was a movie today that I was like, "I have seen this so many times for some reason" … What was it? Oh! That movie Crazy, Stupid, Love. It's always on TV and I always just watch it. I don't know why. It's a funny movie.

For me, a first date no-no is …
Texting while you're out on a date. No phones. Put your phone away. That's, like, every date, even years into a relationship. Stop texting. Pay attention to what's going on right now.

I have a weakness for girls who ______ or girls with ________.
Girls who have a good sense of humor.

Obscure knowledge I possess.
Pageants? [Laughs] I'm really in tune with them now. I can, like, call who's gonna win if I watch a pageant … or what the top five would be. I can't bet on it, I can't go to Vegas and bet — I'd get in trouble.
