Peggy Moffitt: The Total Look

The 60s Fashion Icon Invites NOWNESS into Her Pop-Infused Los Angeles home

Still rocking her signature Vidal Sassoon five-point cut, Peggy Moffitt chats about being muse and model to designer Rudi Gernreich and her husband, photographer William Claxton, in director Phil Pinto’s new short filmed at Moffitt's colorful home in Los Angeles. Immortalized in Claxton’s 1964 photograph of her wearing Gernreich’s rule-smashing topless monokini bathing suit, Moffitt defined the look of the swinging 60s with her exaggerated dress sense, asymmetric bowl cut, and heavy, kabuki-inspired makeup. “Peggy is a true innovator, an extension of the pop art aesthetic,” says Museum of Contemporary Art Director Jeffrey Deitch. “She invented a new approach to modeling; she brought to it her background in modern dance, and her understanding of and connections to the art world.” The trio’s collaboration is celebrated in The Total Look exhibit at MOCA's Pacific Design Center, which closes this weekend.
Curated by Cameron Silver and co-curated by Jhordan Dahl and Ethel Seno, the show features 55 head-to-toe ensembles by Gernreich, culled from Moffitt’s personal collection of 400 pieces, alongside Claxton’s era-epitomizing photos and his 1967 short Basic Black, starring Moffitt and widely considered to be the first fashion film.

David Beckham And Guy Ritchie Are Chonie Boys!

Guy Ritchie is filming David Beckham in his undies but sadly its all in good taste as its for Beckhams latest H&M campaign, directed by Guy Ritchie. Our friends at has all the juicy bits below.

When a man runs through a heavily populated neighborhood wearing only boxer-briefs and spa slippers in broad day light, I call the police and report a possible sexual predator on the loose. When David Beckham runs through a heavily populated neighborhood wearing only boxer-briefs and spa slippers in broad day light, I count my lucky stars that the photo evidence won’t somehow poof-and-disappear from the Internet before I’ve had the chance to save them to my harddrive. Right-click… save. Phewf.

Where was I? These photos are actually behind-the-scenes shots of Beckham‘s latest H&M campaign, directed by director and ex-Mr. Madonna Guy Ritchie. The ad (which, as per H&M’s release, will be “a Valentine’s gift in and of itself”) is due to have an “action hero theme”–so that totally explains why Victoria‘s beau is running rampant through his Beverly Hills neighbs in his skivvies, right? Whatever, we won’t even question it.

“David is the perfect leading man,” Ritchie said, of the short ‘tongue-in-cheek’ ad spot. “For me, this felt like more than a campaign–it was like directing a short film.”

Sounds like a bromance could be brewing because David said, “Working with Guy has been a fantastic experience.”

He added, “I hope everyone has as much fun watching the film as I had making it.”

Oh trust us, we will–when the film comes out on February 6. Until then, we’ll settle for these drool-worthy behind-the-scenes photos. Click through to see them and get a peek at the new underwear collection.
