Karl Lagerfeld on Japanese Schoolgirls: ‘They Dress a Little Like Me’

Karl Lagerfeld and Japanese School girls who knew there was a correlation.

Lagerfeld appeared at the Paris press launch of his new makeup line for Shu Uemura last night. And like all things involving Karl Lagerfeld, the event was a total spectacle with the face of Mon Shu, the brand’s cartoon spokesmodel, plastered everywhere from pastries to balloons to stuffed animals to short films, according to WWD.

When we first saw Mon Shu, we thought she was dressed like a female version of Karl Lagerfeld, but her look is also Japanese schoolgirl-esque. Though, apparently that’s the same thing. When the topic of Japanese school girls came up (Lagerfeld must be tired of talking about Choupette), he told the trade that he was a fan of their uniforms and that, “They dress a little like me, even if this is more exaggerated.”

It’s true, but wait–do they dress like him or does he dress like them? Which came first, the Karl Lagerfeld or the Japanese schoolgirl? Has he just been copying their fitted collared shirts with ties look all along? Hmmm… Via fashionista.com
