Ellen DeGeneres had one of our favorites, Jane Lynch as a guest on yesterday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. What ensued during thee interview was quite spectacular. Jane and Ellen had an intimate chit-chat recalling the moment both women opened up to the world about their sexual orientation.
"You say that but there are a lot of people that are still in the business that are scared to death to do that," Ellen said. "They would think that it would hurt their career. And, your career is bigger than ever and it hasn’t hurt you at all."
Jane replied, "And, not just because you’re sitting with me but that’s because of people like you. You were at the height of your fame and you came out. And that just blazed a trail for me. It really did. It made it so much easier for me what you did."
Jane later added, " Let me make another point...this isn’t great news, it’s because I’m a character actor I think. If Julia Roberts were gay I think it would be harder. She’s an ingénue. You want to project your hopes and dreams for love… like Brad Pitt.
"So you’re saying Julia Roberts is gay?" replied Ellen.
Jane hilariously replied back saying, "That’s what I’m saying. Right here on this show. (laughs) She won’t admit it. I’m here to tell you she’s gay. You’re welcome Julia. It’s a push she needed and now she can join us!"

It makes me ridiculously happy that the audience cheers when Jane acknowledges Ellen coming out paved the way for her.
