Dior Homme Goes Femme

'The most commonly written thing about Dior Homme, is how often it’s worn by the girls (not by any scientific measure, we’re just guessing).

Since Hedi Slimane made everything baby-food-skinny in 2001, women have made the tailored men’s suits their own and so it follows, naturally, that Dior Homme would finally make something specifically for girls.

Kris Van Assche announced they’ll offer Dior Homme jeans for women next year. Petite Taille (Small Size) is the name of the label and the jeans, tight and skinny, will come in a rainbow of denim from bleached to black. They’ll start at around $500 and go up to $1300.

Van Assche calls jeans “a key and important unisex item galvanizing all wardrobes.” Jackets next, please.'

Living in a French Film with Marcus Ohlsson

Hugo Sauzay and Olya Ivanisevic are ‘Living in a French Film’ in this eclectic editorial by photographer Marcus Ohlsson in the December 2009 issue of Italian Velvet magazine. Olya plays the role of the beautiful actress while Hugo is the intense director/boyfriend. Olya eventually dumps him and goes around town on her own. Make sure to see the rest of the images after the jump.

Brilliant, Simply Brilliant!

Penelope Cruz

Penelope Cruz sexes up the January 2010 cover of Interview Magazine, on stands now.

Academy Award–winning French actress Marion Cotillard interviews the 35-year-old actress for the mag and asks her which four guests would attend her dream dinner. Penelope answers, “This is very interesting. I would take [Italian film director] Federico Fellini, [Austrian-American writer] Billy Wilder, Woody Allen, and [Spanish director] Pedro Almodóvar, and I would make broken eggs, which is a Spanish dish. It’s all fried, and it’s very fattening, with a lot of oil, salt, eggs, and potatoes. I know how to make it, and it’s so greasy, but there is a truth to it. Can you imagine this group?”

Real-Talk Of The Day

In an interview with Metal Hammer (via ONTD), Marilyn had some clear and refreshing things to share,

“I think I’m not afraid to be me. Sometimes it happens when you get to this point in your career, and there are so many things that have happened and influences that you’ve had, besides the influences of the things that have inspired you. Sometimes you feel awkward being what you’re best at, you feel like you have to be something new. But I think that a lot of people will agree that me being me at my best is what I need to be."

Oh No, Save Cody!

Just a few days ago I feautured here on itsnotyouitsme, Cody, the store Labrador. 'Cody, a chocolate Labrador, has for months greeted customers at the Clearwater BP gas station and convenience store at U.S. 19 and Nursery Road. A St. Petersburg Times story introduced thousands more to the jovial pup.

But Thursday morning, a state health inspector stopped by and issued a warning to Karim Mansour, the store's owner: Remove the dog or the Health Department would declare all of Mansour's food products — mostly bottled sodas, Slim Jims and candy bars — unfit for consumption' Mansour, who adopted 6-year-old Cody three years ago, had no choice but sign the warning. His primary violation: "prohibited animals present in a food establishment." Mansour said he will leave Cody at home by Friday, but will try to find a way for his companion to stay. "There's no way one of my dog's hairs are going to get into a bag of Doritos,"

Sonia’s Prep

'It’s t-minus twenty-four hours to Sonia Rykiel’s H&M explosion.

The the team behind the launch has been working for weeks to create a pink fairy tale within the Grand Palais. Event Planner Ettiene Russo walks through the progress in this video, in awe of his own vision coming to life under the glass dome, “I want them to feel like kids,” he says of the guests.

The lingerie might counter the childlike excitement, but we’ll let you know tomorrow.' -Fashionista

'IN THIS ECONOMY, Clayton Homes knows very well that you aren't going to buy an entire mobile home without getting something in return. That's why they have put together an offer you cannot refuse. If you buy a modular, manufactured or mobile home from Clayton before New Year's Eve, they will give you an entire can of Van Camp's Pork & Beans! That's a 60 cent value!'

'If this still doesn't make any sense to you, just think of it like this.... If you buy a can of pork & beans for $50,000, you'll get an entire mobile home for free! A STEAL!' -Dlist

But I’m Wary Of It Because It’s Laced With Meanness...

Claire Danes looks chic on the December 2009 issue of Angeleno magazine wearing a crepe “Brooke” dress by Zac Posen and “Claudia” peep-toe heels by Christian Louboutin. Here’s what the actress had to share...

On learning to cook: “I like making house. A lot. I’m cooking more. I used to say I want to want to cook. But now I actually want to cook, which is a big step forward. I’m pretty nerdy and terrified of straying from the recipe. My friends often make fun of me for that.”

On celebrity gossip: “I totally read gossip magazines if I’m at the gym or having my
nails done. I don’t like them. I’m not for them because I don’t like being chased by paparazzi. But they satisfy a kind of id, like a grubby, nosy part of ourselves. But I’m wary of it because it’s laced with meanness. Especially with the anonymity of the Internet, it’s a reflection of our less appealing selves that wouldn’t be so apparent if we were all in the same room together.”

Hmmm...a trace of honesty and integrity shared on behalf of Claire. I dig it and more importantly I dig you Claire!

Tis The Season...

Christmas season is here but it doesn't officially start til the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin struts her BIG threads, voice, and practically big everything onto a stage. She Roared into the evening like she's trying to open the gates of heaven at last night's Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting ceremony!

Here's one of many tracks that I adore from Miss Aretha...

Knight’s With iD

Fashionista has been gushing over ShowStudio lately, and it's because they wish they were in London working for Nick Knight or even just bringing his coffee to Somerset House.

'Almost every week comes word of a new project, a new idea or a new partner. Though Knight shoots for iD all the time, now the magazine’s teaming up with Knight’s site to shoot one hundred fashion industry icons throughout December.

They’ve already secured Kate and Naomi, as well as Alexander McQueen, Chris Kane and Gareth Pugh to mimic the one hundred portraits Knight took for iD’s 5th anniversary in 1985.

And of course the best part is, Knight will shoot at Somerset House in front of a two way mirror which means, if you’re in London next month, you can watch the whole thing while we wait impatiently for next year’s issue.'

Photography Spotlight :: Jannis Tsipoulanis

'After featuring the work of René Habermacher, we turn our spotlight to his ex photography partner, Jannis Tsipoulanis. From the understated black and white shots to those with eye-popping colors and illustrations, a sense of refined sensuality is what attracts me to the work of this photographer who was born in Bremen, Germany to Greek emigrants.' -Homotography

Inside the Mind of McQ

'Some designers may be wary of the digital revolution, but we’re sure none of you would be surprised to know that Alexander McQueen isn’t one of them.

There was already the ShowStudio livestream of his phenomenal S/S 10 show, he tweets, and now his McQ website has been redesigned. And of course it’s way cool.

“McQ looks to reference the youth and spirit of youth and sub cultures. The concepts of anarchy, rebellion and revolution are never far from the seasonal fundaments. McQ transcends generational and geographic borders and is governed by new rules and new influences,” says the homepage.

The Last Thing A Young Woman Needs Is...

Lady Gaga and Britney Spears share the cover of Elle’s January 2010 issue.

'They’re either the oddest pair, or the most likely, depending on how you look at it.' Inside she says, “My album covers are not sexual at all, which was an issue at my record label. I fought for months, and I cried at meetings. They didn’t think the photos were commercial enough…The last thing a young woman needs is another picture of a sexy pop star writhing in sand, covered in grease, touching herself,” which is both true and refreshing.

She also says this on here Vma's perfromance, “I feel that if I can show my demise artistically to the public, I can somehow cure my own legend. I can show you so you’re not looking for it. I’m dying for you on domestic television—here’s what it looks like, so no one has to wonder.”

If you haven't already, check out the performance below...

Lee Kholafai & Joshua Yajacaji by Justin Lopez

Photographer Justin Lopez did his first Major test shoots with two boys: Lee Kholafai above, and Joshua Yajacaji below. The facial close up of Lee in the first image is particularly beautiful. The styling of these shoots was done by Douglas Hickman Jr.' -Homotography

Joshua has an enthralling aura about himself. His features and body language captivate a sense of refined sensuality that only certain models can engage in.
